Job Summary

A Senior Data Scientist is a seasoned professional responsible for leading complex “data analytics” projects serving the business domain of customs and trading across borders. The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data sets, designing and implementing predictive models, communicating insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and delivering data analytics solutions. The Senior Data Scientist analyzes large sets of data, executes statistical models, designs machine learning algorithms, and draws insights for optimization of business processes or services. They work in a dynamic environment to update the latest techniques and trends in data modeling, data processing, and data visualization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in SQL and in applying statistical methods, machine learning and artificial intelligence to deliver business improvements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Analyze, clean, and transform large data sets from various sources to ensure accuracy and completeness of data, and to prepare data for statistical or machine learning experiments.
• Initiate exploratory data analysis projects to achieve better understanding of phenomena as well as to discover untapped areas of growth and optimization.
• Analyze and interpret large and complex data sets using statistical or mathematical models to identify patterns and trends and propose strategic recommendations for the organization.
• Develop and implement data-driven solutions using advanced statistical and machine learning methods to deliver important business services and/or solve complex business problems in the customs and trading across borders domain.
• Build and test predictive models to optimize business outcomes.
• Design and maintain various AI/ML models and modify existing processes to refine data quality.
• Train, test, and validate predictive models to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of models.
• Deliver scalable automated data solutions to increase efficiency and productivity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements, evaluate data sources, and design data visualizations to support decision-making across the organization.
• Communicate complex data insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear, concise, and actionable manner, and present results and findings to stakeholders through data visualization and presentations.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques and tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in designing experiments, performing research, and proposing actionable solutions.
• Participate in data governance and compliance of analytical methodologies to industry standards.
• Mentor junior members in the team
   

Job Requirements:

• Master’s or Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a business environment.
• Expertise in statistical and machine learning algorithms (classification, regression, anomaly detection, deep learning).
• Proven experience in developing and delivering data-driven solutions that optimize business outcomes.
• Excellent coding proficiency in SQL and Python. Programing skills in R or Java is a plus.
• Experience in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience in NoSQL or graph databases is a plus.
• Ability to translate technical data analyses into business insights.
• Passion for solving complex data-related problems in a self-driven, highly collaborative team environment.
• Good experience with microservices, DevOps tools and containerization technologies is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data-related issues and propose effective solutions.
• Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work within established timelines.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong oral and written communication and leadership skills to collaborate with stakeholders across different departments.
